What is unclaimed freight?
It’s also referred to as “abandoned cargo”. Whatever the cargo is, it may have not been requested or received by the original buyer. This usually occurs for a variety of reasons, such as incorrect delivery/contact details, the original buyer refusing the shipment, or the original buyer not being available to receive the shipment.
After the cargo has been sitting unclaimed for a certain period of time and efforts have been made to contact the owner, the cargo is sold off to cover warehousing expenses (and make room for new, unclaimed freight and cargo). When these items become available to buy, often via an auctioneers, Modern Freight KC purchases specific parcels that have items best suited for its customers.
